If you ask Tommy [Guerrero], he’ll tell you that he’s a Skater/Musician and one didn’t come before the other. He dominated the skating scene in the 80′s most notably for riding with the Bones Brigade Crew, of skateboarding company Powell Peralta. Tommy played in a couple bands with a few of his skateboarding buddies, but found the most success after releasing his solo project, Soul Food Taqueria in 2003. His sound is downtempo with influences of rock, hip hop, jazz, and funk.

[Washington] DC based singer/songwriter Wayna has made a few ripples in the music industry. She’s mainly worked with east coast cats like Kenn Starr and Kev Brown. Her single “My Love” (below) was nominated for a Grammy in 2009. If you think that’s not enough to give her a listen, here’s a couple of tid-bits that makes her a “must listen”: Wayna was a former White House writer for the Clinton Administration and last March [2009] she was charged with a prohibited weapon (police baton) while trying to board an airplane… and she has a song appropriately called Billy Club… coincidence? You decide…
